Race Report
The first season of the league consisted of 6 club teams and comprised 15 races. Each club facing the other once over the period October to December. 5 rounds of 3 fixtures were planned but postponements led to fixtures being played over several weekends. The Liverpool Echo of 26/10/1953 reported - The Liverpool and District Cross-Country League made its bow on Saturday last when the first two fixtures took place. The Liverpool Daily Post on the same day reported - In Liverpool and District League event over 61/2 miles Liverpool Harriers (25 points) beat Boundary Harriers (80 points). First individual R. Davies (37 mins 13 secs). At Leasowe, Wallasey AC beat Waterloo H by 35 points to 49 points over 7 miles in a Merseyside [Liverpool & District] cross country league fixture. First individual was J. Swan in 38.38 mins.
